I started a Wedding Officiant Business a few years ago, and I got to say it’s going pretty good.  I’m doing a few ceremonies a month and I really enjoy it. I normally make about $100 for 15 minutes of work. Everybody keeps asking me how I started it and what I had to do, so I created a Wedding Officiant Business Start Up Kit. I just started reading “The 4-Hour Workweek” by Timothy Ferriss.  So far it is a great book and I already agree with alot of it’s concepts.  It’s no reason why it was a New York Times Best Seller. I am currently working on creating a book to explain the process of becoming a Licensed Minister/Wedding Officiant and creating a business out of it.  I noticed that this occupation seems to lack any attention.  I have searched for books online on the subject with very little results, so I decided that maybe this a niche that I could explore.  One of the first things that I did was to search the keywords/ keyphrase that I would use to get my website found.  I’m not going to release the keyphrase I chose just yet, but it has over 49,000 searches a month.  If I can create a book (not ebook) that I can sell to just a few of these 49,000 searchers a month, then I should be able to make a profit.  I know absolutely nothing about writing a book, but I will keep you posted on my progress.

I created a new website for Ohio University Chillicothe students. This website allows students to buy and sell their textbooks from each other. It’s very similar to craigslist but only for OUC students and textbooks. I got the idea from seeing our schools overly crowded bulletin boards and decided there as to be something better than this to find and sell textbooks. There wasn’t, so I created a way. I am using affiliate links, adsense, and sponsors on this site to make up for the fact that it is free.

It was about this time that I was watching a tv show that was running a program on a company that recycled old shipping containers to build homes and offices.  So then I asked myself: ” Why couldn’t someone build a coffee shop out of a single shipping container and have it delivered on site and hooked up (kind of like a camper)”.  I also figured that if the business wasn’t working I could easily have the container picked up and probably sell it to someone else.  After researching the idea I found that it could be done and already had been done.  This option dramatically reduced the price of my idea and it made this idea much more attainable.

I certainly don’t have the income to try this business venture now and never did for that matter, but it is an idea that is always in my storage locker if needed, but the point of this post is to spark some creativity and celebrate thinking outside of the box.  If I would have thrown this idea out as soon as I realized that it would cost too much, I wouldn’t have it in my arsenal of possible business ideas today.  There is normally a cheaper solution out there to any problem, it just sometimes takes an active imagination to find it.  When faced with a problem answers can often be found by not focusing on the problem.
